NEC, Toshiba to Jointly Develop 45nm Chip Technology

NEC Electronics and Toshiba recently announced they will jointly develop 45-nanometer chip production technology, and they plan to use this technology to produce high-performance chips for digital home appliances and mobile phones.

 

Furthermore, NEC Electronics will be working with US Link A Media Devices to develop SoCs for 2.5-inch and 1.8-inch hard disk drives used in mobile devices. The chips will be produced at NEC's Yamagata plant using 90nm technology, and will go on sale in mid-2006.
